About Cayla
Cayla Stone is an Event Rider, Trainer and USEA ECP Certified Instructor based out of Wellington, CO. She has a particular interest in young horses, rescues and teaching riders how to listen to their horses. After graduating from CSU in Equine Science in 2010, Cayla has built a successful program in Colorado, starting horses, taking on ‘problem horses’ and helping riders become more balanced and in tune with their equine partners.
After competing in her first Mustang competition in 2012, Cayla started a non profit for Mustangs in 2018, Wild Rose Mustang Advocacy Group Inc., and that organization has expanded over the years, with Cayla working with over 200 Mustangs. Cayla has competed in the Extreme Mustang Makeover three times, making the Top Ten twice, and competed in the recently developed Mustang Classic competition, making the finals in 2025. In addition, Cayla has competed in Colorado Horse Rescue’s PEAK Trainer Challenge twice, earning second place in each.
She also spent a few years as the Instructor for the CSU Right Horse Program, teaching the next generation how important it is to correctly evaluate and provide training to rescue horses. For the last 10 years or so, Cayla’s facilities have taken on a huge number of college interns and working students, as Cayla has a fondness for helping future trainers gain valuable skills.
Cayla has competed herself in the RRP TB Makeover, and taken multiple teams of CSU students to the Makeover every year for the last 5 years with a lot of success.
Cayla, along with her team at Mythos, and her talented daughter, bring along a large number of young horses and ponies every year, taking pride in the process of creating a competitive mount suitable for all level of riders. They enjoy working with horses from the ground up, watching riders reach their goals, liberty and ground work, and merging positive and negative reinforcement to create an extremely successful training program.
About Sera
Sera loved horses from a young age and was able to start riding Western when she was 13, spending as much time at the barn as she could. In 2017, while a student at CSU, she interned with Cayla. She was such a successful and impressive intern that she was promoted to Assistant Trainer shortly after! Since then, Sera has been an indispensable partner and friend to Cayla, and a vital part of the Mythos Equestrian Team! Sera was a part of the inception of Wild Rose Mustang Advocacy Group in 2018 and has worked with over 150 Mustangs. Since learning from Cayla in 2017, Sera has switched over to the English world, and is now a very competent rider in Dressage and Eventing. Though, Sera doesn’t show very often herself, she enjoys participating in clinics and is often with the Mythos Team at shows and events all over the country. Sera enjoys the beginning processes of starting horses and gentling Mustangs, and is also an excellent Instructor. She is a very regular face out at the farm, and one we couldn’t do without!
